1815 « HOMAGE TO WALTER LANGE » UNIQUE PIECE
The 1815 « Homage to Walter Lange » timepieces are a tribute to the man who is responsable for the rebirth of A.Lange & Söhne in 1994 (with Mr. Günter Blümlein).
Mr. Walter Lange unfortunately passed away the 17th of January 2017 marking the Watchmaking industry forever and i will always remember his motto : « Never Stand Still »
At the SIHH 2018, three different versions of the 1815 « Homage to Walter Lange » were introduced : A White Gold (limited to 145 pieces), a Pink Gold (limited to 90 pieces) and a Yellow Gold (limited to 27 pieces). However, we were informed that a unique piece will be produced and auctioned later the same year.
Well, This is it! : The 1815 « Homage to Walter Lange » - Stainless Steel - Black enamel dial ! and it’s such a pleasure to review it.
The timepiece will be auctioned by Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo on the 13th of May 2018 in Genevaand the benefits will be given to the charity foundation « Children Action Foundation »
Mr. Wilhelm Schmid (CEO of A.Lange & Söhne) planned a perfect action. In four points :
No 1 : Stainless steel cases are extremely rare at A.Lange & Söhne
No 2 : The mechanical calibre L1924 offers a small seconds (at 6 o’clock) + a Jumping seconds with its own start & stop pusher (at 2 o’clock), a complication that Mr. Walter Lange truly loved and also linked to his family.
No 3 : Black enamel dials are very difficult to produce
No 4 : The Benefits will help childrens. A subject on which Mr. Walter Lange was particularly sensitive.
Being on tour all around the world with the Auction house, you can see that the mention « Proto » is engraved on the case back. It’s because the futur owner will get a brand new stainless steel case on which a serial number will obviously appear.
