OCTO GRANDE SONNERIE
Considered as the best of the best in the world of mechanical calibres, The Grande Sonnerie has for sure a special place in my heart. Very few brands offer it in their collection and to be able
to have my hands-on one was definitely a nice moment.
The dial speaks for itself! 894 components inside an iconic Octo case. Above this « forest » of gears and wheels, the indications are easily readable and i love the fact that a chimes power reserve is integrated/visible. Of course, the two reserve indications (chimes + power reserve) hide part of the show but at the same time, i find the information so convenient.
Rare enough to be mentioned, the calibre BVL 703 is a self winding mechanism. Great surprise! Most (if not all) other Grande Sonnerie i know have a manual winding calibre. In terms of design, i find very interesting the choice to build a central structure (quite thick) and make the bottom base as thin as possible. The result is a timepiece which doesn’t look and feel like a « tank ». It’s actually the opposite! Light, thanks to the titanium material & Comfortable.
The finishing is Superb and to top it all off, a Tourbillon is on the back. What else could we ask for ?
Well, i thought i’ve seen the most complicated and exclusive creation of the Italian brand but i was wrong. Expect the unexpected, at Baselworld 2019, Bvlgari introduced a Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar! Its name : The Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie. I’ve seen it but unfortunately couldn't take any picture as the piece was inside a showcase.
Glad and privileged to see such creations.
Well done! BVLGARI.
