This timepiece celebrates the 20th anniversary of the iconic Tourbillon Souverain with remontoir d’égalité. Launched in 1999, the wristwatch was produced by subscription (20 pieces, only).

Two decades later, F.P. Journe comes with a vertical tourbillon! Quite a surprise and it really shows how « contemporary » Mr. Journe is. Most of the time when i speak with people about the brand, it’s all about how classic & elegant the creations are.
To me, he is part of the very few who found the perfect formula between Modern and Traditional. It’s pretty amazing to see how he has his own codes (mechanically and aesthetically) and a huge attention to details.

The vertical tourbillon makes a revolution in 30 seconds. On both sides, you’ll find mirror polished finishing allowing the owner to explore different angles of the timepiece’s vertical heart.

The dead seconds is usually a feature present in movements with remontoir d’égalité. Nevertheless, it’s a very difficult complication to produce and adjust! If you’re not familiar with the remontoir d’égalité : It’s a mechanism that aims to equalize the force reaching the escapement. In short, to improve the accuracy controlling the energy distribution right before the escapement.

The timepiece has no dial and the decorations such as « Clous de Paris » guilloche or circular Geneva waves (on the back) is directly applied on the base plate. That’s why a bridge part has been produced to fill out the space around the power reserve hand. If you look closely, the part has 3 screws and “et fecit” is written on the top.

Happy 20th Anniversary, F.P Journe.
