F.P. JOURNE IS INTRODUCING A RATTRAPANTE INTO THE LINESPORT COLLECTION
AND WE COULDN’T BE HAPPIER !

To me, the Rattrapante is the extension of a chronograph. An additional « layer » of complication upon a useful & playful indication. Its mechanism not only affects the movement construction but also the external aesthetic of a timepiece.

If you’re familiar with F.P. Journe’s creations, you won’t be surprised by how high the quality of the finishing, complication and design is but here, what struck me the most was the size of the date window! 5.20 x 2.80 mm.
Not a big deal but quite unusual… After a minute, you get used to it and appreciate the readability and location of the indication.

In terms of setting, the crown has 3 positions (Winding - Date correction - Time setting). The Pusher at 2 o’clock does the chronograph Start - Stop - Reset and the Pusher at 4 o’clock the split-second. A seconds counter is present at 9 o’clock and you’ll finally find a jumping 30 minutes chronograph counter at 3 o’clock.

Another interesting point is the presence of black rubber links and protections throughout the piece. It certainly accentuates its sport aspect and protects the watch from frictions which is nice. The material also adds some grip to the crown and that’s the type of detail that i love.

The open back is the expression of an Art !
Honestly, it would be difficult to pick a side to wear (if we could…) : Functionality or Mechanical Beauty ?
