The Perpetual Calendar, my favourite complication. It's fascinating to see how brands display these indications on a dial (most of the time on the front side) and this one is no exception

The Laureato Perpetual Calendar was launched during the SIHH 2019 and the element that impressed me at the first glance was the Month aperture. From 4 o’clock to 7 o’clock, a small red part points the current month. It also represents the hour « five » (time reading). I find the idea quite nice and imagine that its length must has been subject to few debates. Anyhow, i like the overall configuration.

The thing i’m not sure about is the red colour on the date number « 1 » + leap year hand, number. I don’t get the message or concept behind this choice, in particular the leap year hand. It really accentuates the indication which (to me) isn’t that important in a daily use.

The rest of the dial is Superb! The blue outer ring brings a lot visually and helps to see the minutes precisely. The decoration is very well executed and the different finishings (the bracelet, for instance) makes it shine even more. At first, i didn’t know if it was a steel or titanium timepiece and it says a lot about the production quality.

The back is open and the movement has a self winding mechanism with 54 hours of power reserve (more than 2 days). Honestly, i would have appreciated more power reserve but on the other hand, a pusher at 8 o’clock helps to set the week day making a quick jump… so it’s up to you to choose if it’s a deal breaker.

Definitely worth the try!
