Introduced at the SIHH 2018, the Différentiel d’égalité is the first Greubel Forsey timepiece
to offer a dead-beat second ! and once again the famous duo managed to surprise us.

The basic idea of a Différentiel d’Égalité is to distribute a constant energy throughout the entire movement (from the barrel to the regulating organ). To do so, a spring is placed before the escapement in order to « distribute » precise impulses. That’s why the piece has a dead-beat second indication between 4 and 5 o’clock. The small sub dial (between the balance wheel and the dead-beat second) is a traditional seconds indicator with a very little small hand.

Equipped with a balance wheel stop and seconds reset, you simply need to pull out the crown to activate a direct reset on the seconds hands.
When you do it, it’s Magical! and it also shows how the Maison Horlogère cares about chronometry.

The design is Superb! I love the visibility on some components like the barrel, balance wheel, dead-beat second spring… It’s very « Greubel Forsey », if i may say and it proves again that great complications are not enough. To appreciate them properly, it requires outstanding designs and to me, it certainly shows how modern/contemporary the brand is.

The time reading is pretty clear and the fine hand coming from the one o’clock indication is the power reserve indicator.
Don’t forget to look at the back when you’ll pull out the crown because some parts are going to move! Bonus.
