GMT QUADRUPLE TOURBILLON

I’m a huge fan of Greubel Forsey’s multi-time zones display globe and to be clear, their interpretation of this particular complication is the most Convenient / Smart / Fun ever seen. I believe that the exact moment anyone understands it, is truly magical! so once again my visit to the G.F. salon (taking place during the Baselworld days) was incredible.

Now, if you combine the « Globe » + 2 double Tourbillon + a GMT indicator and a universal time with small seconds, you end up with this « Beast » !

Let’s make the Quadruple Tourbillon more clear for everybody. Both have a 30° inclined tourbillon in a cage rotating in 60 seconds. That’s the first cage.

Then, a second outer cage does a full rotation in 4 minutes so that’s why the Manufacture calls it Double Tourbillon.

1 Double tourbillon at 6 o’clock + 1 Double tourbillon at 11 o’clock = A Quadruple Tourbillon.

Here is an appropriate moment to use the expression : « Go big or Go home »

At 5 o’clock, you’ll find a second time zone subdial with a small 60 seconds hand in its center. The pusher at 4 o’clock (side case) moves the red arrow one hour forward. Notice that the mechanism is linked to the universal minutes above. Therefore, if the minutes hand is for instance at the half an hour mark, the red arrow is also going to show a half an hour point (literally).

The Manual winding calibre has a power reserve indicator located between 6 and 7 o’clock on the universal time dial and if you look closely the different finishing and decoration applied to the overall timepiece is just insane.

66 pieces of this Holy Grail will be produced but only 11 in White Gold.
Hats off !
