RICHARD MILLE & RAFAEL NADAL
In New York, Rafael Nadal has just won his third US Open trophy, beating South African Kevin Anderson in three sets, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. By the same occasion, Rafa chalks up a 16th Grand Slam title, his second for the year, following his Decima performance at Roland Garros. Richard Mille, who has never flagged in his support for the Spaniard, in triumph or defeat, is delighted to see his partner at the height of his powers. Hands down to the year’s biggest comeback.
Starting with the first set, the World #1 immediately turned up the pressure on Anderson. after 58 minutes of play, he took the set with an increasingly surgical game. the second set was a mere formality, as the majorcan brought out his net game, claiming the set just under two hours of play.
As for the third set, the score was 5-4 when Rafa closed out the game following a serve and volley. after his breath-taking performance, Rafa proudly held aloft his US Open trophy before the 23,000 spectators, visibly relieved to have finally returned to victory on hardcourt, as he had in doha (2014).
‘it’s one of the best seasons of my whole career. I’m someone who doesn’t get worked up, who doesn’t think he’s invincible when he wins, but doesn’t feel crushed when he loses either. Winner or loser, what matters to me is to keep improving,’ shared the player, who has added five titles to his name since January.
Richard Mille shares in Rafa’s joy in this latest victory. to see our champion, his RM 27-03 on his wrist, climb to the top of the podium is a tremendous satisfaction. currently in a position of strength, it is not hard to imagine the Spaniard finishing a fourth year at the very top of the rankings, after 2008, 2010 and 2013.
