Launched at the SIHH 2018, this timepiece features a central endless rotating screw. Even if the technique is well known in mechanics, it’s the first time that i see it in the foreground and that’s quite interesting. We’re in a period where clean dials (with vintage influences) & Mechanical complications dominate the market and it seems to please the demand. To me, the Academia Endless Drive is somewhere is between… Not really a complicated piece mechanically and neither has a full close clean dial like those you’ll often find on vintage watches.

In terms of indications, Two discs indicate the Hour (left) and Minutes (right). There also is a superb Power reserve window at 12 o’clock. The case has the typical Dewitt design meaning « the imperial column » motif and the open back looks nice, in particular its rotor.

Dewitt did pass through difficult times and decided to do radical changes. A rationalization strategy has been incremented and they’re totally transparent about it. The Academia Endless Drive marks this new path and i sincerely hope that everything will go well for them.

Keep up the good work! Dewitt.
