I find very interesting how JACOB&Co is continuously coming with new versions of their iconic Astronomia! but this one… Wow. The quality of its execution is simply Breathtaking. First of all, i love Dragons! It brings me back to my childhood dreams. The creature fascinates me so i was pretty much sold on this one from the get-go.

Nevertheless, i’ve seen few examples of timepieces with miniature sculptures (over the dial or somewhere inside the case) and it’s a very difficult / risky exercice. Now, to be able to produce a sculpture (or rather an art piece) with such details wrapped around 4 axes is really an accomplishment.

Made of solid 18K rose Gold, the Dragon is inspired by the Chinese mythology (Kioh-lung). Around it you’ll find a Marvelous 1 carat White Diamond (Jacob Cut) which has 288 facets and a Magnesium lacquered Earth globe. Both turn on their own axis in 60 seconds. The Gravitational double axis Tourbillon (or regulating organ) keeps its JACOB&Co logo and Magic animation! In fact, everything is in motion under the dome. Therefore, 60 hours of power reserve is quite nice if you ask me.

In the background you’ll find a blue Sky (made of titanium) on which the stars appear. The sort of little bonus that i appreciate. It shows that nothing is left empty! Every bit of space is used for a purpose either as information or mechanical entertainment.

If you wonder, the principle of the two « bows » remains. Placed on the back, one is used to set the time and the other to wind the calibre JCAM25.

Bravo! JACOB&Co.
