Founded in 1902 by Paul Arthur Schwarz and his wife Olga Etienne, The brand has always been a movement manufacturer. Their history evolved through many projects/collaborations including some of their own (obviously) but let’s say they were « mainly » known as a reliable production partner.

The year 2007 marks the « reborn » of Schwarz Etienne as M. Raffaello Radicchi acquired the company expressing his vision to produce exceptional in-house timepieces. With Mauro Egermini as CEO, the brand (based in la Chaux-de-Fonds, The Watch Valley) launched an amazing creation in 2016 :
The « La Chaux-De-Fonds Flying Tourbillon »
and What a Great Surprise !!! This is quite rare to have in such a clear way: the Energy (barrel behind the logo SE & the micro-rotor at 9 o’clock), the Distribution (gears & wheels in the center), the Regulating organ with a Stunning Flying Tourbillon (at 1 o’clock). Therefore, 4 circles on the dial.

The timepiece is surrounded by classical elements (round case, roman numerals, crown at 3 o’clock) and Fine finishings (sandblasted, hand chamfering). We love the fact that the Flying Tourbillon is visible on both sides. It gives different perspectives with the main show on the front and a more « technical » aspect on the back. The regulating organ offers magnificent motion on the wrist! In that respect, we highly recommend you to watch our shot video review below.

The decoration is beautifully executed. One example: The back presents a smart idea mixing the actual gears and the engravings on the plate and last (but not least) a very interesting choice to show the micro-rotor on the front! Quite rare nowadays…

With such developments and achievements, we definitely confirm that the Swiss Independent brand Schwarz Etienne is a « Maison Horlogère » to keep an eye on.
