CARRERA HEUER 02T TOURBILLON NANOGRAPH
If you’re in love with Watchmaking innovations, January 2019 was quite a wonderful month! In parallel to the SIHH, The « Geneva Days » (which is basically the LVMH Watch brands) had a big « surprise » to reveal.
To be more explicit : TAG HEUER introduced a new HAIRSPRING !
The Carrera Heuer 02T Nanograph is the world first reference to have a hairspring made of Carbon Composite and the benefits are just unprecedented.
But what’s a Hairspring ?
The Hairspring is probably the most complicated part of a mechanical calibre to produce. It is the key element of the regulating organ (or the heart) of a movement and is particularly sensitive. Over the years, great progress has been made either on the component itself or its environment but nothing close to this.
Fitted onto a balance wheel made of aluminium alloy, the regulating organ :
- is unaffected by gravity and shocks
- is completely antimagnetic
- offers concentric oscillations
- offers optimal thermal behaviour
- is produced with the collet already attached
In short, it ensures the accuracy of the watch at its maximum and can be mass produced.
Totally in line with the Avant-Garde spirit of the brand, i’m glad to see amazing innovations like this one in saleable products. I’m pretty sure that this new hairspring will be integrated in other collections/references and can’t wait to discover the next steps of the LVMH research division. Mr. Guy Sémon’s division (The man also behind the Zenith - Defy Lab oscillator)
Bravo! TAG HEUER.
