GRAND DECK MARINE TOURBILLON

ULYSSE NARDIN INTRODUCED THE BEST NAUTICAL TIMEPIECE UP TO DATE !

This creation is an invitation to come aboard and the concept is wonderfully done! from its design & materials to the mechanical complications.

Displayed through a double aperture, the hours (jumping hours complication) are driven by two disks. To set the time quickly, a corrector button is present on the side of the case (at 2 o’clock).

The main « Show » comes with the minutes! Presented on a blue center arc (from 9 o’clock to 3 o’clock), here you have a retrograde complication. How does it work ?
A wire moves the huge hand or « boom » a part completely free and working like the halyard cord used to hoist the sails of a ship.
In fact, when it hits 60 minutes, the "boom" goes back to 0 by itself in 3 or 4 seconds.
AMAZING!

The dial and its hand-crafted wood marquetry is a miniaturization of a real design used on boats and it really feels like you’re going to leave the harbor… other references such as the winches or the flags are linked to the nautical world.

2 barrels are required to make the movement run and we notice that they’re skeletonized on the back so you're able to see if there is a need or not to wind the movement.

Only few timepieces gaves us an instantly true emotion and the GRAND DECK MARINE TOURBILLON is definitely one of them.

Hats off, ULYSSE NARDIN !
