Few weeks ago, i had the pleasure to meet the new CEO of Ulysse Nardin, Mr. Pruniaux. The event was a perfect opportunity to find out what his vison is and take some pictures of Pre-SIHH 2018 novelties. This Marine Tourbillon Blue Grand Feu Enamel was part of the selection and was my first choice!

Ulysse Nardin & the navy are deeply connected historically and the piece perfectly transmits it through the « blue waves » of the Grand Feu enamel dial. Acquired by the brand in 2011, Donzé Cadrans S.A is a company specialised in high-end dials in particular the enameling process and it’s quite interesting to see that sometimes the right colour and pattern is enough to be amazed.

The in-house calibre UN-128 is wonderful! Offering 60 hours of power reserve (indication at 12 o’clock) and a Flying Tourbillon at 6 o’clock, the movement has also a self winding mechanism. Design-wise, i find it classic and modern at the same time. To me, the classic part would be the dial and the central minutes/hour hands and the modern side would be the location & size of the Flying Tourbillon + the blue rubber component over the crown.

Overall, the Marine Tourbillon Blue Grand Feu Enamel is a Beautiful creation with a visually addictive organ regulator and a nice general finishing (front and back).

Its official launch will be at the SIHH 2018 and i definitely recommend you to visit your local retailer of brand’s boutique to discover it with your own eyes.

Well done! Ulysse Nardin.
