UR-105 CT STREAMLINER
WHAT DOES NEW YORK MEAN TO URWERK ?
Inspired by the wonderful NY city, this timepiece goes back 20 years ago when Felix Baumgartner (co-founder of URWERK) visited his « Partner in crime » Martin Frei.
At that time, the brand designer was living at the « Big apple » and both were experiencing what it meant to be entrepreneurs. In fact, it was the beginning of the journey and obviously, the period marked them. I see this creation as a slice of life marked by an architecture, the streets, the subways or simply a state of mind.
20 years of existence for an Independent Watch brand is a huge achievement! and i like the idea to look back and be inspired by a moment.
The UR-105 CT STREAMLINER is thus a timepiece with many influences. The Empire State, Chrysler, Comcast buildings… Here you have a minimalist external design with clear & stretched lines.
By moving up the central button, you’ll discover the beautiful UR 5.03 mechanical calibre. I love the imposing carousel part that holds the four satellites and the duality that the watch case offers.
Always a great plus to have a power reserve indication (bottom right) with the famous URWERK turbines/winding options but what immediately caught my eyes was the digital seconds (bottom left). An original way to show the seconds and quite discreet at the same time.
Wonderful piece URWERK !
Happy 20th Anniversary.
