At the SIHH 2018, VACHERON CONSTANTIN introduced Five wonderful
« Métiers D’Art » timepieces, this one being the « Paris 1783 »

In fact, those creations (or tribute) reproduce historical balloon flights undertaken between 1783 - 1785 in France. Each one is hand-engraved and micro-sculpted! I can’t imagine how deep the know-how of each single artisan is. They’re true Passionate individuals, that’s for sure.

Around the central balloon, you can see different colour tones and translucent segments. The combination of both offer a stunning visual effect and adds an extra-level of difficulty, requiring once again extreme control/know-hows. This blue « Sky » version is my favourite but the others (Bordeaux or Green) are also impressive!

On the top left & right are two apertures around the rim of the dial. They let you see the Hour & Minutes indications thanks to dragging discs. On the bottom, jumping discs will give you the Day of the week & Date.

I really like the global concept! The aesthetic is quite original and very exclusive with a production of only 5 pieces per reference.

With « Les Aérostiers », The Maison Horlogère proves once again that these talented « Artisans » are simply amazing and we must preserve those skills like treasures.
