PILOT TYPE 20 TOURBILLON
A VINTAGE CREATION WITH A TOURBILLON !
The timepiece contains the word « Pilot » as Louis Blériot (a french aviator & inventor) flew across the English Channel in 1909 wearing a Zenith. Many variations are available but this article will focus on the Tourbillon version.
The execution fits perfectly the concept ! Here we are in the presence of a pilot timepiece, therefore almost all elements are oversized.
A case diameter of 48mm, big and clear Superluminova hours & hands indications, a big crown and chronograph pushers.
The engravings on the back are really wonderful. It adds a poetic touch combined with strong words such as « Flying Instruments »
The Tourbillon at 11 o’clock is beautiful. A little white spike shows you the seconds and the dates are surrounding the complication. Definitely an ingenious/smart mechanical development. Discret, useful, we love how Zenith integrated it.
The mix between the Titanium case and some Red Gold parts (such as the bezel, lugs, side plates, crown…) works perfectly and even if the creation has a 48mm of diameter, we felt quite comfortable wearing it.
Well done, Zenith !
