Launched at Baselworld 2018, the Ocean Biretrograde Perpetual Calendar was quite a Surprise! It’s always a pleasure to review Perpetual Calendars and i have to say that this one is pretty modern, to say the least. The blue & red touches on the dial directly intrigued me.

In fact, i think that the piece has a sort of « Duality » and that’s actually what i love! A Perpetual Calendar (a high classic complication) shown on a colourful dial and contemporary case… That’s what i call : Modern

On the front, you’ll find 2 retrogrades hands (blue & red). One is pointing to the day of the week (left side) and the second shows the date of the month (right side). The calibre HW3501 makes the left hand go up and the other down which i find pretty cool!
At 6 o’clock is a moon phase and at 12 o’clock a month indication. The leap years window is right below the three letters « Jan » for January. The central minutes and hour hands stay at their traditional location and on the back, the sapphire glass will let you appreciate the 18K white Gold rotor as the creation is self winding piece.

An Anniversary edition of 20 timepieces in white gold with baguette Diamonds set into the bezel & lugs was also introduced but they’re probably sold out already.

Despite its Wonderful movement and overall stunning quality, i will probably remember its original Design. Important and impactful decisions were made on this one and only for that, i want to say: Bravo.
